Deputy Auditions

The auditions for Summitclan Deputy are officially open for members to apply to! If you read through all of the rules and requirements in the HR Guide then you already know this, but this is just a reminder: you must create your character, post them on the site as a Warrior/Climber, and wait for them to be accepted before you apply them to be Deputy.

I play the current Leader of Summitclan, Sunstar. Sun is a very cold, stoic, and quite honestly emotionally unavailable cat. Sun isn't a very open or "affectionate" guy, nor is he very aware (or caring) of emotions in general. In 99% of situations, any decision he makes isn't for the sake of anyone's thoughts or feelings, as how you feel doesn't mean as much to him as whether or not you're healthy. When it comes to his clan, he may not be very friendly or personable, but he makes up for that by being protective to a fault and puts all of his effort and attention into maintaining the physical health of the clan. Sun does everything in his physical power to ensure that the clan is well fed, has access to water, and that their territory is safe and secure. Any signs of danger, and he will immediately seek to rid of it however he can. Any signs that water is freezing up, and he will find another source. Any indication that the clan is falling low on food, and he will either find another food source or he will just expand the range in which the clan can hunt, even if that means breaching into other territories. While Sun does generally look down on the other clans, as most of the clan does, he does for the most part respect that all of them have borders and that they all have rules to follow. Under normal circumstances, he would not condone cats of his clan crossing the borders, as he is not that blatantly disrespectful. But if things in Summit were dire and they needed food desperately, his regard for the rules and borders would falter. When he must choose between crossing some borders to get food, or letting his clan starve, those borders mean nothing to him.

Sunstar was chosen to be Deputy 9 moons ago by the previous Leader and his father, Scorchstar. Scorch was unfortunately a tom that fell victim to the more arrogant and self-important viewpoint of a cat who had a right to become Leader, as he was a descendant of Wolfstar. He had a tendency to do whatever he wanted and held low regard for the other clans or their opinions of his actions, and it was this attitude that led him to launch an attack on the Winding Stones against Pineclan, and while they did win and gained control of the border, he lost his last life in the process. Even though Sun is willing to push the boundaries of hunting on other territories, he only does so when he feels it is necessary. While he of course isn't fond of the other clans by any means, he has enough common sense to know that there are limits. In most regards, Sun has absolutely no intentions of being anything like the kind of Leader his father was. Sure, he has the confidence, and he can't deny that the willingness to impede on the other clans when necessary is something they almost have in common, Sun would never be so careless with Summitclan as Scorchstar was.



Sunstar would be looking for a few things in a Deputy.

• As per Summitclan tradition, the cat would have to be related to him in some way, whether it be a sibling, a cousin, or an aunt/uncle. Normally a child would be an option also, but Sun doesn't have any children yet.
  
  • Since any applied character would be related to Sun, you can message me so we can talk about how they can be related to him. I only currently have 1 adoptable sibling already made for Sun, but I have listed in his bio that he would have multiple other half-siblings. He could also have cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, ect. So just message me with ideas.
• Sun would be looking for a cat that either has a similar viewpoint on the well-being of the clan as him, or he might choose a cat that is more emotionally available than himself. While he does believe that Medicine Cats are more responsible for the emotional well-being of the clan, he would also consider having a Deputy that does the same.
• Strength and durability are highly valued traits in Summit overall, so Sun would be looking for a cat that is very capable, very strong, or has proven their physical abilities in some way or another.
• Even though all cats who are relatives to himself in some way or another have a right to become Deputy, if a cat were to seem too eager to take on the position, or seem power hungry or entitled to the role in any way, he would not choose them. Scorchstar was already arrogant enough and eager enough for power as it was during his reign. Sun would look for a cat that is more humble.
• While he wouldn't want a potential Deputy to be too eager or arrogant, he does want them to be confident in their skills. A cat who is cowardly or timid wouldn't be likely to be chosen by him.

There are also some general rules and requirements that must be acknowledged and/or followed.

1. Your character must have mentored at least 1 Apprentice in their history.
2. The minimum age of cat that Sun would choose is 30 moons.
3. You cannot play a Medicine Cat or MCA in Summitclan.
4. You cannot play a Deputy in another clan.
5. You must be willing to do all of the duties required of a Deputy. (HR Guide)
6. This is less of a rule/requirement and more of a note: As Sun is only in his 40's and hasn't lost any lives yet, it isn't likely that his first Deputy would outlive him or become the next Leader.
