Deputy Auditions

The auditions for Tideclan Deputy are officially open for members to apply to! If you read through all of the rules and requirements in the HR Guide then you already know this, but this is just a reminder: you must create your character, post them on the site as a Warrior/Reader, and wait for them to be accepted before you apply for them to be Deputy.

I am the current player of the Tideclan leader, Irisstar. Irisstar is the epitome of the words "mother hen." Tideclan is her family and she dotes over everyone as if they were her own. She will go out of her way to make sure that everyone is provided for and that everyone stays in good shape. She is also fiercely protective over the clan, not taking kindly to threats towards them. So much so that she can be unpredictable, throwing any ethical decisions aside to protect everything that Tideclan has. This can be deeemed as a little foolish since she is willing to throw herself into dangers way if the situation calls for it.

On top of her duties as Leader, she works very closely with the Water Readers to ensure that there is not immediate danger towards the clan. When storms are coming towards land, she works with the readers and her deputy to determine if any extra precautions need to be taken. She will also restrict any access to the beaches if there is a present danger there. Same goes for hunting inland, if theres any present dangers, she works alongside her clan to figure out a better hunting area. She is not one to break code and cross boundaries to the other clans, however. She feels that crossing those boundaries could put more danger on her clan than what it is worth. So instead, she has been known to send patrols along the outskirts of their territory that are not claimed by the clans if there is a food shortage that is bad enough to use it.

Essentially, Irisstar is set on keeping her clan strong and protected by any means necessary. Literally.

This being said, Irisstar would need a deputy who is more level-headed in the face of danger. Someone that can talk her down from doing anything questionable and give other suggestions to handle things. Having two cats that are reckless enough to throw themselves in front of danger without properly thinking about it just would not work. So she would need someone to work with her and make sure she doesn't overstep too far with any decisions. All while making strides to keep the clan safe alongside her. She needs someone who is dedicated and passionate about the well being of Tideclan like herself.....just maybe not as extreme.

The deputy should be fairly open towards other clans and outsiders but within reason. Sometimes accepting everyone is not the best course of action, so I could see the deputy being a little more aware of the risks. They would be a little bird in Irisstar's ear if they have a bad feeling about someone. Same goes for those within the clan, I can see the deputy being very observant of how the cats fare among one another and how they do skills wise. They would likely be a great mediator in any situation between their fellow Tideclanners.



There are also some general rules and requirements that must be acknowledged and/or followed.

1. Your character must have mentored at least 1 Apprentice in their history.
2. The minimum age of cat that Iristar would want to see step up is 25 moons.
3. You cannot play a Medicine Cat or MCA in Tideclan.
4. You cannot play a Deputy in another clan.
5. You must be willing to do all of the duties required of a Deputy. (HR Guide)
6. Be aware that Irisstar has been leader of Tideclan for a year and a half. She still has 8 lives remaining so the likelyhood of the deputy becoming Leader is slim and will be unlikely for a very long while. Unless plot-wise things may arise. We shall see.

The auditions will close once at least 2 cats have been applied.

Please note that Tideclan works a little differently. When the auditions are closed, all Tideclan cats are permitted to vote on who they feel should be deputy. It will be a whole clan effort. Which means any member playing Tideclan cats will be contacted for their character(s) votes.

✦ How far is your cat willing to go to keep the clan safe?

Sandstorm is an individual that would do pretty much anything to keep those that she cares about safe. If her clan treats her in a way where she as seen as a friend, and given respect she will do all that she can to protect them. She would willingly sacrifice herself for the wellbeing of her clan, but not without reason, for a meaningless sacrifice is useless. Getting down to the nitty gritty of murder, if another individual is attempting to take the life of one of her own, she will fight back full force with no hesitation, ending their life if needed. This won't come with a light price to Sandstorm though, as she will likely go through some internal battles with the aftermath of taking another cats life, no matter how cruel they are.

✦ How would your cat react when faced with a difficult situation or even danger?

When faced with a danger, Sandstorm can sometimes be a little impulsive, making decision without thinking anything through properly. Despite this she is a relatively intelligent individual, and her rash decisions don't usually end up so bad. She has a mind filled with strategic thinking and problem solving, but her strong emotions get in the way. Perhaps with some understanding between her and her sister, alongside maturing over the moons she will become more emotionally stable, and be able to better recognise when her decision is made on impulse. While her choices may not always be deeply thought out, they come from the heart, in where she is always trying to protect her clan and loved ones.

✦ How does your cat feel about cross-clan relationships?

To Sandstorm, she sees nothing wrong with a cross-clan relationship. She doesn't voice this openly, for the fear of being classified disloyal. She has always struggled to understand why there is such a fierce hate between those of different clans, and wants to work towards creating a more peaceful community between the three. A relationship with a cat of another clan is nothing but healthy, showing the ability to make ties with those outside of the cats who raised you, and a way to extend bloodlines if things lead down that path. She believes cross-clan friendships incredibly important, especially for those in more diplomatic roles. None of this is known to the cats of her clan, but if you pay enough attention, you can see the way she mingles with others at gatherings with a calm confidence, and the lack of fear she holds at the borders of her territory. You can befriend or love another from a different clan while still remaining loyal to your own, it is as simple as that.

✦ How does your cat feel about the other clans and outsiders?

Most outsiders Sandstorm is very curious of. Their completely different lifestyle is something foreign to the torbie she-cat, and she finds herself intrigued and wanting to know more. This doesn't get rid of any suspicious though, for she has heard stories from family and elders, to know not to blindly trust all. She is cautious around those she doesn't know, and makes sure to determine whether they are a threat to her clan or not. The other clans, to Sandstorm, are simply the same as TideClan. They might have different values and ways of living, but fundamentally they are just trying to survive, and should therefore be treated with respect and kindness as long as they give the same back. She is very casual when coming across other clan cats at borders, though understands the meaning of a border to many, and will not let another disrespect those borders without good reason. She wouldn't attack instantly, but she wouldn't be open and welcoming to finding another clan cat inside her territory. She is more likely to be cautious and careful, questioning them while working out motives.

✦ How far is your cat willing to go to keep the clan safe?

Oceanbreeze, while a mother, would determine the risk factors. Is the cause of the action going to cause more loss for TideClan if they act upon it vs not doing the action. In terms of slights brought upon by opposing clans or outsider groups, Oceanbreeze would voice her concern on what a fight to protect their traditions would lead too. Traditions can be rewoven, retaught - lives can not be rebought. While she would lay her life down on the line for any one of her fellow TideClanners - she would not ask anyone else to do so to justify a simpler means to an end.

✦ How would your cat react when faced with a difficult situation or even danger?

Oceanbreeze is a mother, and in that sense, she has had to keep face for her kits sake. While fear and worry may rattle her mind - one can not say that she is not the picture of calm. She carries herself with an authority - one that means business if crossed - but holds the smile and softness in her eyes of a mother watching her kits. In times of trouble, when faced with other clanmates causing difficult situations - one will note that she will try to hear both sides of the story, listen intently, and work out a compromise - if not explain why one party can not have what they are trying to achieve. She is the poster-girl for the "disapproving parent" look, and can more times than not - cause another to give up their claim simply because she shook her head and said she was disappointed in them.

In terms of a dangerous situation, while she thinks first - she usually does so on the fly. While sometimes her actions may seem more rash than they normally would - she aims to provide the best solution in the quickest amount of time. If it came down to a fight, she would give her all to justify the need to spill blood over something she believes could be handled with diplomacy. In terms of a creature or predator, she usually handles the situation based on a - if you can outrun it, run, if you can't, hide, and if it's upon you - fight for your life.

✦ How does your cat feel about cross-clan relationships?

The idea of another falling in love is always romantic. Oceanbreeze grew up on talesof the starcrossed lovers - Moon and Sun - and how they were forever in an endless chase to reunite. She believes this of cross-clan relationships as well. While she will be very disappointed in the cat's actions, she will have a heart and understand that sometimes, love trumps all. She may partition for the other feline to join TideClan so that the union between lovers can be official. Any kits that result of this pairing - she believes wholeheartedly belong with their mother until they are of an age to decide for themselves where they want to belong. For she knows that call to the sea - and she knows that sometimes, it's not thought or talked about, but burned into your blood.

✦ How does your cat feel about the other clans and outsiders?

Oceanbreeze, while open to the notion of those wanting to start a new life, understands the cautions around it. She would ask they give her time to adjust to this period of them being in the clan - that they have loyalties to prove - just like everyone else does. She usually views those who wish to join TideClan as apprentices, learning the ropes for the first time. In terms of other clans and outsiders in general, Oceanbreeze believes that if they are peaceful towards her, she is peaceful towards them. If they desire to pick a fight - they need to have a stern talking too and fighting should not be the only answer. They were given claws to hunt, not to harm.
