TIDECLAN
Lovers of the blue ocean, Tideclan cats are by far the most kind and open cats of the clans, and the smallest, living alone the shores of the west. Natural-born swimmers and creative spirits, these cats see themselves as the connectors between land, sky, and sea.
Tideclan cats are the most petite of the clans, usually with smaller bodies, small paws, and short pelts resistant to water. They are often lighter colored in fur and lighter eyes with little paws that glide across the sands. As their home tends to be on the warmer side, these cats love to bask in the sun and are better when it comes to heat, but their short fur does them no favors when the seasons grow cold, nor do their light-based eyes do well in the dark.
If you are looking to have some fun and make some friends, Tideclan is the place to go. These cats are very social and welcoming to all, even those outside the clans. They look on the bright side of things and try not to judge based on appearance or past. They are very loyal cats who view their clan as family, and they are naturally very empathetic and more artistic, loving to decorate their home and their dens with plants and things they find on the beaches. Though, as to be expected, their kindness comes with drawbacks, as they are often seen as naive and easy to pick on. Do not underestimate them, though. They may be small and gentle, but their enginuity comes in many forms.Territory
A mixture of plains, desert, and beach with rivers and streams that are next to the ocean. Their territory does not deal with much snow, save for closer to Summitclan territory, but they do worry about flooding, harsh tides, and harsher storms from the ocean.
- Sweet Brook: small branch-off stream from the main river that comes down from Summit territory, doesn't really lead anywhere, just branches off and stops, probably a very small pool at the end that isn't very deep or big
- Grassy Cliffs: up the hill from the beaches is a set of steep grassy cliffs with rocks along the edges, leads straight down to the ocean, would be a very very bad fall
- Grand Beach: down the hill from the cliffs there is a wide beach of white and yellow sand that connects to the ocean
- Rose Clearing: towards the bottom half of the territory there is very light forest of oak trees, not super dense, but not too far in is a little clearing full of nothing but wild rose bushes, very pretty, but very prickly
Found not too far away from the Grassy Cliffs stands a very old ruin of an unknown building of unknown origins. It is unclear what this building once was, but the interior walls stand no longer, save for one or two broken walls, and there is a small amount of coverage from what was once a possible second floor, no stairs leading to it anymore. The exterior walls still stand, though there is a large opening where a door once was, serving as the camp entrance. Most of the dens inside are formed by fallen pieces of large concrete that were likely once the walls, boulders, and a few in-ground dens formed where the floor cracked and broke away a long time ago.
The Leaders den is in the back right corner of the ruins, a square-like shape forming both the den and the meeting place, the Leader sleeping inside and calling meetings on top.
The Medicine cat den is in the back left corner, and the entrance is formed by two large pieces of fallen wall, but it slightly slopes downwards into the ground to form two sections, the front serving as the patient den and the back as the MC’s place to store herbs and sleep.
The Elders den is next to the Leader’s den and is also formed by pieces of fallen wall, this does not go into the ground.
The Nursery is next to the MC den and the entrance is framed by bushes that have grown through the floor, the den itself going underground and opening into a relatively large area full of nests.
The Apprentice and Warrior dens are on either side of the camp entrance and are both formed by fallen wall and bushes, the ground only slightly dug into to make the spaces bigger. Prey is kept in the center of the camp in a small divot in the ground where something large seems to have left a tiny shallow crater.Culture
Tideclan gives off the impression as a clan of cats who enjoy their freedom, having fun, and indulging in the beauties of life, and this initial impression is not a ruse. They are the creative and free-spirited sorts, loving to decorate their home and themselves with shells, plants, anything they find enjoyable, so it is not uncommon to spot cats with plants resting on their heads and around their shoulders. These cats are very loving and accepting of all, regardless of background, origins, or family. They are by far the most family-oriented of the clans, as well as the most emotionally supportive. It is also not uncommon to find much more polyamory and families all raised as one, plenty of cats being born and raised by cats who may or may not be their parents and raised alongside others who may or may not be their siblings by blood. This clan is a family, and they treat each other as such.
But, as loving as Tideclan is, they also recognize that the other clans may view their ways of kindness as weakness instead, thinking that they are easy to take advantage of or defeat in battle. While this clan chooses violence as their last resort, they are not so stupid as to think that when violence must be used that they can win by sheer force. They know that they are the smallest physically of the clans, so when it comes to challenges and battles with others, cats or otherwise, they are not afraid to cheat, using their unique territory resources, primarily things found from the ocean, to defeat those who face them, including sharp plants, poisons, and venoms.

Summitclan: Neutral Pineclan: Neutral Outsiders: Welcoming
For many moons Tideclan's relations with both Pine and Summit have remained on the neutral side, as Tide is much less prone to violence than the other two. Tide also knows that Summit and Pine are already constantly at odds, which they typically choose to keep themselves out of.Traditions
"Let those old enough to follow the tide join me for a clan meeting."
Apprenticeship // Due to the fact that Tideclan's territory resides right next to the ocean, it is of the upmost importance that all TC cats know how to swim. From a minimum of 3 moons TC kits are taught how to swim in nearby small lakes and creeks under constant watch of multiple Warriors. Apprentices are also taught very closely on how to swim throughout their Apprenticeship and are also taught how to watch the ocean to watch for harsh waves or straying tides that could pose a threat to the clan.
Bonds // On the traditionalist to progressive spectrum found in the valley, Tideclan is the most progressive and open to change. Over time, TC has become the most welcoming and loose clan, especially when it comes to relationships. Of the three clans, you are most likely to find cats of all sexes, genders, and preferences coming together in TC, as well as massive families consisting of multiple litters from different parents all raised together by a bunch of parental figures. Unlike their neighbors in the forest, TC is perfectly open to cats of all ranks finding mates and having families, including Medicine Cats, Deputies, and Leaders, and they actually often encourage cats of all ranks to form relationships should they wish for any.
Democracy // Over the many generations the way that Tideclan does things has varied in comparison to the traditional way of Warriors, especially when it comes to the transitions of power. Where the traditional way of the clans is that the Leader makes all of the clan decisions, including choice of Deputy, in Tideclan the responsibility of choices is given to the whole clan, often in votes. For example, when a new Deputy must be chosen, the Leader does not just choose the new Deputy on their own. When they would normally go to make the announcement, rather than just announce the Deputy, they will call to the clan to vote upon who they think should be chosen, and the Leader is normally expected to choose what the majority thinks. While they obviously can choose someone else, there's a good chance that they will be side-eyed by the clan, as these things are to be chosen by everyone. It is also much more common for cats to actually volunteer to become mentors when there are new Apprentices, though the Leader and Deputy will typically work together to pick the pairings if there aren't enough volunteers.Water Readers //A rank unique to Tideclan, Water Readers, or just Readers, are cats within the clan who do all the normal duties of a regular Warrior, but they are most often the cats of the clan who hold the deepest connection with the sea. Seeing as the ocean is vast, unknown, and unpredictable, the cats of Tideclan know that they must always be on the alert for any changes. With this in mind, the Readers are cats who have spent lots of time along the seaside portion of the territory, watching the ocean and the clouds and their surroundings and understanding how they work. These cats are able to tell when the tide is low and high, they know when the shape and color of the clouds means something is coming, they know how to read the ocean. And when there are any changes, such as the tide growing high or potentially dangerous waves washing towards the cliffs, or perhaps they can see a massive storm in the distance, they bring this information back to the clan and the clan prepares accordingly.
Since Readers are a specialized rank that deals very closely with the ocean, the tides, and dangers of the sea, Apprentices who wish to become Readers require an extra 3 moons of training. The minimum age to be promoted to a Reader is 15 moons.
If an Apprentice should wish to become a Reader, they must inform their Leader, either before they become an Apprentice so they can be assigned a Reader mentor, or during their Apprenticeship so that a Reader may step forward and either take over or assist in their training.
